co-creating with the divine while healing through art and nature

why sacred moss?

When I began creating, I would lose myself in worlds that only existed the moment my paintbrush touched the canvas. However, my art held no structure because, at the time, the act of creating mattered more than the intent. As time went on, I began to understand the importance of intention in art and how without it, there is no story. There is no soul. These past 6 years, I have been creating my story by pouring my soul into my work and because of that intention, I have been able to come home to myself through what is now Sacred Moss Studio.

You might be wondering what I mean when I mention co-creation with the Divine. I mean that we are all connected to our Divine Creator or God and through Him, we possess the magic of creation and healing (both of which come in many forms).

In other words, we are all artists and creators that have a unique purpose that serves the greater good, the whole, the universe, and God. We have direct access to Divine energy, and when we authentically engage in activities that we love (for me, it would be creative arts, meditation, and nature) that is when we’re most connected to that energy.

That’s why creation must be intentional. Once you channel creation through God, your practice becomes sacred. Your creation becomes a fundamental part of your being that is so powerful and magical that nobody could ever take it away from you.

Take a look at Mother Nature, for example. She is an embodiment of our God’s love for us. The intention it took to create our sacred planet deserves acknowledgment and admiration. Mother Nature has survived devastating events that were so catastrophic, there was undeniably no point of return. Yet, through Her attempted eradication, She continues to push forward and make it out of the other side even more abundant and resilient than before. That is what co-creation with our Divine Creator looks like.

Acknowledging these aspects of my creation was how the name Sacred Moss came to be.

post - traumatic growth

So far, on my journey to becoming an Art Therapist, I’ve earned my Bachelors of Science in Human Development and Family Science along with an Art Studio minor. I have learned about the scientific elements of healing and I integrate that knowledge into my own beliefs.

A continuous theme I noticed while in school, was that psychology teaches us how to heal our brains only after we have already developed a trauma-induced psychiatric disorder. Yet, what if there was a way to avoid developing a psychiatric disorder and instead, become an even stronger person than you were before? What if you were actually able to help others because you grew from your adversities rather than allowing them to consume you?

It turns out, there is a feasible approach to these ideas that Dr. Rakesh Jain refers to as post-traumatic growth. PTG refers to positive personal development that can occur following severe stress or trauma contrasting with common psychological issues like PTSD, depression & anxiety (Jain, 2025). Not only can you recover from a traumatic situation, you can actually grow from it.

The findings of post-traumatic growth in a study done in 2023, showed that 96.5% of participants who had experienced poly-traumatic events reported positive changes as a result of active healing. Their relationships improved, and they held a new appreciation for life. Dr. Jain also mentions that participants experienced changes in spirituality (Jain, 2025). They were able to acknowledge that there is a bigger picture and intentional reasoning behind everything that happens to us in our lives. Awareness and action are key elements while utilizing this approach.

ai does not exist in this dimension

As we discuss the authentic & sacred practice of intentionally co-creating with God, you can only imagine how hypocritical it would be for me to use AI in my work. But, I have to be honest, I have used AI. Intentionally. Not for my art, but I have for my writing. And I’ve realized that “using it as a tool to organize my thoughts” cannot justify the intentional detachment from our Divine Creator. AI robs our ability to create authentically. Engaging in AI is a betrayal of our devotion to our soul. From this point forward, I have vowed to avoid AI at all costs and embrace my natural flow and allow myself to be a mediocre writer and artist, until I’ve mastered both.

Again, I have been creating consistently for 6 years and I am no where near where I want to be. Growth is part of the journey and AI disrupts that developmental process and disintegrates our ability to think for ourselves. AI is not revolutionary. It was designed to destroy our connection to God. It does not come from love or authenticity. It is not sacred, it is not natural, and it will not exist in my space.

I truly believe that we have the ability to shift our sacred planet into one that is pure in love and creation, but for that to happen, knowledge is crucial. Knowledge is a powerful tool that AI drains straight from our life source. On one hand, we see artists fighting with everything they have to preserve the sacred, authentic act of creating and on the other hand, people are literally developing psychiatric disorders through overconsumption of this depraved database.

Through ebb and flow, I find myself losing hope. However, we have to keep fighting. We cannot allow a soulless machine to win, and we won’t. With everything I have discussed, I want to emphasize how important it is that we heal ourselves. Whatever your creation looks like, just do it. Continue creating until you have direct access to yourself through God and continue healing forever and ever. After all, love is the truth and the only truth. And that comes straight from the Divine.

my approach to healing

body

When we encounter traumatic events without proper coping mechanisms, our bodies compensate by storing that stress in our body that only gets worse over time if left unaddressed. As a result, our nervous system is always activated and pain is always chronic. Activities such as yoga, walking, hiking, meditation, etc, is going to help release those blocks and build up. Nature plays a big role here.

mind

Our minds plant the seeds that define who we are as individuals. If you speak to yourself poorly, you will experience shame and that shame will turn into judgement. And that judgmental voice doesn’t stop at you. You will catch yourself judging friends, family, and especially strangers. Meditation, creation, daily affirmations and conscious efforts to speak kindly to ourselves and others can rewire parts of the brain that have been infiltrated by a traumatic event.

soul

Imagine that you have built up trauma stored in your body, and imagine that you don’t do the things that give you joy, and that you are mean to yourself every single day. How do you think that your soul compensates for all of this? The truth is, it can't. When your nervous system is constantly activated, your soul becomes a frightened animal, locked away in a cage. Your soul is sacred and deserves to be authentically free. And in order for the soul work to happen, the first two must be addressed.
