intro to the dream journal
Take a deep breath. Without exhaling, take another. Hold it, then quickly exhale and drop your shoulders. You are now entering The Dream Journal, a sacred space meant to provide Divine comfort and confront traumatic events that have manifested into spiritual, creative and physical blocks. With that being said, I want to give a trigger warning about the Dream Journal — I will be regularly discussing topics related to severe trauma, substance use, domestic violence, child abuse, religion, cults, & even suicide. It has become apparent that you can’t do the work unless you acknowledge the darkness that unfortunately has access to us all. I also want to give a gentle reminder that you are absolutely worthy of love, and anything that does not feel like love is not the truth. Love is the only truth.
And it comes in the form of the Holy Spirit.
The Creator of our Universe lives within all of us and we all carry magical abilities to heal and create. We are all placed here, together at the same time for billions of different intentional reasons. There is no small coincidence that you were born exactly who you are. The people that end up in your life, the way you live and who you become are all sacred parts of your innate being. There’s even a reason behind the fact that you’re here, right now, reading this journal entry. God gave us free will, not to punish us when we do wrong, but to empower us to be able to make our own decisions. To do what makes us Divine — enacting in the art of creation ourselves.
Yes, we are creators. We are all artists and we each have an individual sparkle that makes us unique to the Divine. The stars we were crafted from reflect how our Creator views us. Pure and beautiful. Our God is not wrathful or watching our every move, waiting for us to mess up so we can be punished. Our God is merciful, He is humble, and He encourages us to use our magic and share our own Divine light with each other.
The question is, how do we share that Divine light? Well first, we should discuss the reason many find it difficult to access creation through God — and that’s because of that first voice in our head that tells us we are not good enough. This is the ego, the liar or the Voice of Knowledge (Ruiz & Mills, 2004), and this voice infiltrates us at a young age. There was never an option of escaping it, only battling it through active awareness and resilience. According to international bestselling author, Don Miguel Ruiz, “Heaven belongs to us because we are the children of heaven. The voice in our head doesn’t belong to us. When we are born, we don’t have that voice. Thinking comes after we learn – first the language, then different points of view, then all the judgments and lies. The voice of knowledge comes as we accumulate knowledge (Ruiz & Mills, 2004). Our stress, anxieties, depression, overwhelm, all come from that first voice that recites negative beliefs about ourselves back to us and we feel obligated to believe them. That first voice can easily knock down years of progress if we’re not aware. Especially through a traumatic event. As I add more entries to the Dream Journal, we will go over what can happen to us after traumatic events and how we can actually grow from a traumatic event, rather than allowing that first voice to take over.
There are many ways to override that first voice and access God. One of which is through meditation. During my sessions, I often ask for guidance and clarity and I utilize golden sun energy straight from source (for me, this is Jesus Christ). I do my best to remain on the same frequency of the Divine by staying true to love. However, falling short to that first voice, I fail. I fail everyday. The good news is, that’s actually what we are meant to do. We’re here to learn karmic lessons and heal our bloodlines. And in that process, we are going to make mistakes. Again and again and again. We are here to grow and, just like nature, we are so incredibly resilient.
You can challenge yourself to bypass that first voice that tells you, you don’t deserve love, by engaging in your creation. When you begin authentically creating, watch your connection to the Holy Spirit allow you to come home to yourself through pure love and devotion to your being. As you continue reading, I also want to note something that my best friend told me, which is to use your discernment and have faith that your soul will naturally gravitate to that which is good. Thank you for the good advice always, Chelsea. Xoxo
One last thing, when I talk about God, it is not to create a threatening space or to try to convert you to Christianity. I come from a background of severe religious trauma that I will get into more as I continue writing entries. My intent behind using Christian jargon is not to scare you away because I do not subject myself to any religion, and I do not tolerate people who twist scripture to their benefit. And when I refer to God as “He” or “Him” it is not because I believe that women are less important. In fact, I believe that the Divine Feminine plays one of the most important roles in our Universe. However, I truly believe that Jesus Christ is our God and that He came here to save us through enlightenment. Jesus would never hurt us.
The Creator of our Universe cannot be reduced to a being who gets His kicks from watching us suffer. That is a lie. So, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise because when you are secure in your faith, you don’t feel the need to ambush others about the way that they live or how they believe. If your heart is truly open to the Holy Spirit, then there is nothing you can do to lose that access.
Finally, you do not have to agree with everything I am saying, but I hope that sharing my journey humanizes my approach and shines light on where I’m coming from. I believe that engaging in theological discussions encourages us to grow as communities, especially through the act of creation. I never wanted to challenge my own beliefs about God because I was born into a religious cult that taught me fear and shame were normal parts of existence. Yet, through life experience and a deep understanding of my own sacredness, I have been able to access the Holy Spirit again and ignore the liar in my head. It’s taken years of healing to get to this point of my creation and I still have a long way to go. As I continue writing in the Dream Journal, I will be engaging in active healing, and I ask that you engage with me as we learn more about ourselves through love, healing, creation, nature & God.
